Fashion Valentine: Tori Time

After a few months break fashion valentines is now back! This weeks fashion valentine is the lovely Tori. A pretty well dressed lolita from the US. I love that her outfits always feel so perfectly balanced, both with colors and with having just the right amount of accessories for a cohesive look. Her outfits never feel like its 'too much' but not at all plain either. Be sure to go follow her on instagram and tumblr!

I love how she picks up the gold details of the print, more complementing the print than distracting from it. This looks like it is both perfectly dressed up but still comfy enough to just go into town shopping. Matching the shoes with the bag always looks great but having the cardigan and cute bow on the blouse really works!

Tori really looks like and angel in this cute but more classic look. The headdress is so pretty, I love the little details hanging down over her fringe. The hair is big but not overtaking like some rhapsody wigs can be.  

I feel like this deep blue color suits her perfectly, I love the hairstyling on the left picture. It really completes the look. Her makeup is always really cute too. It's nice that she takes the time to get really nice photos of her outfits, there are so many girls that dress amazing but never get any outfit pictures. 

Her outfits always feel like a complete set, nothing looks out of place. I love wrapping ribbon, and she coorded it so cute here. And I love the bag that she has on the right picture, every colorway of the bag all look amazing. (I want one too!!)

Tori always looks on point and her style inspires me because I want to make my looks as cohesive as hers. I often have problems getting the right balance on my ott sweet looks. Tori you look amazing and keep doing what you are doing. I look forward to seeing more of your outfits.

Angelic Pretty: Sweet Jelly Girl

New adorable non print dress from Angelic Pretty called Sweet Jelly Girl! It has a lot of details and looks really fancy. I think the colors they picked are really perfect for it too! As always I'm a big fan of scallop designs!

The bodice of the jsk is really lovely too, I love all the frills together with the sweetheart type cut. This is just a lovely fancy dress that looks perfect for the summer.

Angelic Pretty: Harlequinade

I've been waiting to see this dress! Angelic Pretty are finally releasing Harlequinade. I think it's cute but to be honest I think I only like the pink and blue version. The other colors just feel really unappealing. I think my favorite cut is the jsk with the V shape on the bodice, the detailing looks really nice. I really want to see what this print looks like in real life because its really hard to see what the print looks like. The skirt looks kinda wonky, the sheer overlay on it is really confusion to me. Its a pretty dress but I'm pretty disappointed in the colorways.

Fashion Valentine: Marie Tuonetar

This week my fashion valentine is the lovely and elegant Marie Tuonetar. I love the overall aesthetic of her outfits and her photos look amazing. She styles her long hair so perfectly with all her outfits. I admire people that seem to have figured out what their aesthetic is and manage to keep to it, I try to do this too but my style is all over the place. Be sure to go check out her blog and tumblr!

I love that she does black and white lolita coords. I feel like this style of black and white lolita really brings the oldschool color scheme to the modern lolita style. It looks fancy and the white stockings with black shoes combo makes it perfectly balanced. 

Marie wears a lot of black but is really good at keeping it interesting with matching different fabrics and textures. I love the collar and gloves on the left outfit, it gives it the perfect extra touch. And on the right one the pattern in the fabric looks stunning and the long veil looks really nice over her long hair.

I love this style of outfits where she looks like a fancy lady from the early 1900s, It looks so perfectly put together and I love that she does full shiro and kuro lolita. The hats look fantastic also.

Marie also does outfits that are more on the sweet style but I think she still keeps to the same type of aesthetic in these outfits! I't has a lovely type of retro feel to it. Also it looks super cute! I find your outfits really inspiring and hope to keep seeing more new ones!

Metamorphose: Strawberry Garden

 Metamorphose is releasing this adorable strawberry print called 'strawberry garden'. I think its really cute, red strawberries on white looks really sweet and can make awesome coords with the hard contrast. I think it would be better if the scale of the print was better because you could see the berries better. I think the little bunnies are really cute. Both cuts are pretty cute, I like the red bow on the top picture. Though I think I would rather wait for the strawberry prints coming from Angelic Pretty but I think this one would go really well with more classic lolita.

Knights Night: The Secret of Kells

Knights Night have relased this dress called 'the secret of kells' that is based on irish design from the book of kells. I think it has a really unique print design that I havent seen in lolita. Its available in various cuts and colors. I think the bright blue one is my favorite. It's not my usual style but it was interesting enough that I wanted to share it with you.

 

It looks like all the cuts are pretty long, but I think that the print seems well composed. It has so many details and its just really pretty to look at. I have no idea what I personally would coord it with but I look forward to other people making outfits with it!

Even though the print is based on the book only the name seems to come from the animated movie 'the secrets of kells' which I would recomend to any fan of animation or this type of irish design. Its about the making of the book of kells.

Lolita Lesson #4: Classic Lolita

Classic Lolita is one of the three main Lolita styles (the other being Gothic and Sweet). It is characterized by a more historical, classy and lady like. The palette of Classic Lolita is muted nature colors like ivory, brown, beige, wine , navy and dusty pastels. Floral prints are common and prints featuring classical paintings.  The theme is more inspired by historical clothing like Victorian and Rococo fashion. Due to classic being a more mature style many Lolitas turn to it as they get older. Natural haircolor and natural makeup is most popular. Lately Longer skirts have been gaining popularity which have led to discussion of when it stops being Lolita, though I think that new ideas are a good thing as long as the general aesthetic of Lolita fashion is kept. I think the full length dresses could be considered a form of Classic Aristocrat.

Some of the biggest Classic Lolita brands are Victorian Maiden, Innocent World, Juliet et Justine and Mary Magdalene.
