Mintyfrills Outfit: Diner Doll

When I edit photos in photoshop I get a bit too into it and end up with this tacky mess of a background, but I love it!  

I recently wore this cute and colorful outfit with my Diner Doll dress from Angelic Pretty. I love how bright and sugary this print is and coording with 3 or more contrasting pastels is my favorite! 

 Diner Doll can be difficult to coordinate because barely any lolita accessories are that bright pink color. If I had a blouse the same shade as the bright pink details that is what I would love to coord this with. Also the colorway is supposed to be Mint but it really is in the no-mans-land between mint and blue, so unless I have the exact shade its going to be difficult to make an outfit with mint or blue. 

So instead I went with a yellow blouse from Metamorphose, it works better with the dress because the yellow in the print is more pale since its the cake and popcorn etc. I don't have any yellow shoes so matching with pink also felt like a good idea! 

Then at this point its pretty easy, since I have pink shoes yellow socks will contrast and pink tights to add more color. I usually try to match my shoes with my bag so my pink melty chocolate bag felt like it went well both in color and theme. At this point I had a bit too little pink on the top side so I went with one of my common fave tricks and used the waist ties from another dress to make a big bow knot on the blouse. 

I was picking between some different headbows and felt like this bonnet was best with the whole look. It has a yellow star on the side too which was a great match! Too get some yellow on my head I added these adorable little chicken clips I made for an easter outfit many years ago. It doesn't quite go with the theme, but they are adorable and the color was right! I also had a bow that was pretty close to the color of the dress which was just perfect! And since some people were asking me, I'm not wearing a wig! Its just my hair, I wore two braids overnight and put up part of my hair in high twin tails to get the volume!

Angelic Pretty: Lovely Bathroom

If you know anything about my current fave aesthetic you can probably guess that I love the new print series from Angelic Pretty called 'Lovely Bathroom'. I love yume kawaii (dreamy cute) aesthetic and this definitely falls into that category. The 'bathtime' theme really goes well with it since things like pajamas are also super yume kawaii. I would love to have this dress and do outfits with the accessories I made to go with the bubblebath dress from Metamorphose.

I think both cuts and the choices of colorways perfectly compliment the theme. They also look really comfy. Though I know not everyone likes this style of empire waist of tent style no waist cuts, I think it does suit this dress. I adore that the print is two contrasting pastel colors since that is how I love to coord outfits. Two or Three (or why not more?) contrasting pastels is totally my cup of tea. This type of colorways makes it easy to put together an outfit with the two colors from the print or by adding a third color and accessorizing with the two colors from the print.

I think this might be one of my favorite releases this year! This dress will be available for preorder at the Angelic Pretty shop in Tokyo this Saturday! (September 15) Still having fun making these graphics, really hope you like them since I put a lot of time into them!

Pumpkin Cat: Lemon Cat

 Wanted to show you all and write about this adorable dress from taobao brand Pumpkin Cat! They make a lot of cute original designs, I previously made a post about a cute gingham dress from them. This adorable series is called 'Lemon Cat'. I just love the print design on this. Both the print and style of the dress is more otome than lolita. Its fun and playful!

The jsk works both on its on or with a blouse under. Which is nice so that you can vary outfits and its nice that you can wear it without in the summer. The belt and Bow is also detachable. The little kittens in the print are so adorable!

 The sailor collar really suits the style of this dress and I think I would love to have this version! Both versions is a pretty simple dress but this is also reflected in the price being quite low. I want to try to talk more about different brands and not just the most expensive ones.

Angelic Pretty: Ghost Night Bride

In anticipation for Halloween coming up Angelic Pretty have released Ghost Night Bride. Its got a slightly Gothic aesthetic, but the cut, details and print motifs it still keeps Angelic Pretty's regular sweet style. Though I think with the right styling and coordinate those who want to could probably make this look quite Gothic.
I decided to make my own layouts to show off the new release instead of just reposting the pictures everyone has already seen, I hope you like them! Please drop a comment to let me know if you do.~

I've seen people compare this to Vampire Requiem from Alice and the Pirates, but I don't agree on them being very similar. I think the thing that most makes people relate them is that the color palette of this print (the red details on these kinds of colorways) is more prevalent in Alice and the Pirates collections. It has some elements in common like gates, castles and roses. But if you look closer at the Angelic Pretty print the theme is more 'wedding of people super into Halloween'. It has lots of cute things like cakes, stars and a romantic set table. Vampire Requiem also has clouds over the boarder followed by nothing, its plain one color above that. This is not my kind of color palette, but it looks good and the colors are nicely balanced.

The OP has a the fake blouse style that AP tend to do a lot. Personally I'm not a fan of this type of premade coordinate. Don't get me wrong; this dress is definitely pretty and looks elegant. But I think it limits your options to be creative with making your own outfits and makes it harder to not have every outfit look the same. With difference with having a regular OP and the fake blouse style like this is that they are already picking black as the main accent color in addition to the colorway of the dress. So you would have to do a three color coord (with two colors decided for you). I wish this dress was a bit more special and different from the jsk. They have the same waistline and the biggest difference other than the fake blouse is there being organza bows instead of lacing and no shirring.

So for the reasons stated above I would prefer the jsk, since it gives you a lot more options for outfits. The cut is similar to OP and really basic high waist Angelic Pretty cut with cupcake skirt. I Think this dress would be super pretty to coord with grey, luckily Angelic Pretty have been doing more items in grey colorways! The print features three shades of grey so there are plenty of options. The latest release of the milky cross blouse has a really pretty silver grey version that I think would look really pretty with any colorway of this dress. I made a little palette below to help you pick out the colors of the print that would be great to make outfits with.

Angelic Pretty: Daydream Bed [Imai Kira collab]

This seasons Angelic Pretty x Imai Kira collab print is Daydream Bed and its adorable! This really fits into the aesthetic of 'yume kawaii' (dream cute) that I myself am really into right now. Its a really cute print that I think stands out from other Angelic Pretty releases this season. Having beds as the print theme is an adorable idea. I'm not much for white colorways but I must admit this print is really cute in white. The pink is cute but I think it should of been a little bit more bright. 

Another thing that stands out about this dress is how they styled it. I adore the nightcap and eye-mask accessories along with the sleepy plushies. The cuts are simple but I think they suit the style of the print. I think the highwaist jsk looks really comfy, though I know not everyone likes the highwaist style. The collar of the OP looks cute and I think the arms actually look pretty loose which is nice.

I would totally want to get this dress someday, more of this please!

Angelic Pretty: Romantic Cat

Recently Angelic Pretty released this adorable cat themed print, which I think might be one of their best cat themed dresses to date! I feels like a combination of Dolly Cat and Romantic Rose Letter. Its a very sweet print and its feels like the cats are in the same style as the bunnies on the recent Ribbon Berry Bunny. The cuts are simple but have really nice detailing. The lace layered over the fabric on the bodice gives a bit of a classy touch to it. 

I think the colorways are really cute. I didn't see it at first but its both a nice bright lavender and a color that is more grey than lavender. I don't think there has been much of this grey shade on Angelic Pretty prints before but we might be seeing more of it coming up since the new rerelease of popular Misty Sky includes grey as a new colorway. Just like they added a lot of the darker turquoise in the last season maybe grey is this seasons new color.

Angelic Pretty: Ribbon Berry Bunny

A while back Angelic Pretty released 'Ribbon Berry Bunny'. This dress really reminds me of Sweet Ribbon Strawberry mixed with Cherry Berry Bunny. I think its a really cute print, the bunnies are adorable. I think the blue colorway has a really interesting look that could make for really cool coords but I like the red version the most!

The detachable sleeves really just feels like older cookie cutter AP, since I don't like coording with white I dont like at all. The jsk is cute and as you all know Im a big fan of scallop designs. Though the way the print ends looks a bit off, not bad but could of been improved.

Its a really cute dress that I do like, but its nothing I would buy myself.

Angelic Pretty: Sweet Cream Princess

Angelic Pretty just released the unfortunately named 'Sweet Cream Princess'. I must say I had higher hopes for this dress, it looked really nice in the earlier photos. The print is boring and the colorways are dull. I hope the colors look better in real life but from the pictures I'm really not impressed. The mint colorway is a bit better. The print has some cute elements but I don't like how they put them together. I'm usually a big fan of scallops but it just looks off on this dress. The shoulder straps on the jsk look weird and the white scallop part on the bodice look out of place. 

 I was looking forward to the more interesting OP but honestly it just looks cheap on the front part. Its just a flat piece of white fabric with some frills on it. The plain fabric really makes it extra cheap looking. I don't know if its just bad stock photos but I just don't like how it looks.

Angelic Pretty: ★Brilliant Princess Story★

Angelic Pretty recently released this cute horse and carriage print called Brilliant Princess Story, reminds me of Cinderella. The OP cut has really nice detailing and the print is really suitable to this type of dress. The bodice looks wonderful and I love the princess sleeves. Though it sadly the sleeves tend to be pretty small. The jsk design looks like it would be really slimming.  

The pink and sax colorway look so sugary sweet on the pictures from the fashion show, like cotton candy. The navy colorway looks nice too but its not as much my style. All in all I think the dress is adorable and has really nice cuts but I'm not really into the theme that much.

They also made this ott dress using this print which I think works really nicely, I would love to see it on one of the lighter colorways, I think it would look really dreamy.

Baby The Stars Shine Bright: Twinkle Fairy

I really love Btssb's lovely dreamy dress Twinkle Fairy. It reminds me of Cinderella, like its right out of a disney movie. The fabric on the blue version has such amazing shimmer almost looking a bit like holo fabric. The style of overlay really suits the style and doesn't look just thrown on there since it has a nice shape, edges with trim and the cute front ribbon. 

A nice thing about Btssb dresses is that you can remove and change around most big details which makes the dress a lot more versatile. As you can see above here the dress look can be worn really casual without any of the extras and still look really pretty. The pink colorway also looks really nice and soft, its a really good shade for the style. 

 I've always liked Baby for their really nice cuts and detailing and this dress fits into that. I also like that they have lots and lots of photos so you really can see what it looks like. The coord with the blue dress looks amazing, great showcase of how you can style the dress. Trying to keep my eye on other brands than Angelic Pretty.
