Royal Princess Alice: Glanz

mintyfrills, kawaii, cute, lolita fashion, new, pretty,

Royal Princess Alice released this cat themed dress just called 'Glanz', no idea about the name choice. I like cats on lolita dresses but I'm not sure about these that just look like cats photoshoped onto the print. You can barely see the print on the white version and on the black the contrast and balancing is off. Why do they insist on putting crosses on everything? It really has nothing to do with the rest of the print.

The lace past on the front looks okay though it looks flat and I think a border between the print and lace part with some trims or lace would look a lot more neat. They finally have lace trims on the bottom but its a but too long  and separated weirdly from the dress. The bodice barely has any details at all. Though I would love to have the white tights to wear with cult party kei. The dress isn't horrible but more should be expected with that price tag.

Royal Princess Alice: Sweet Dreams Fantasia

Mintyfrills kawaii cute pretty lolita fashion kitten space

Royal Princess Alice recently released this tumblrtastic print called Sweet Dreams Fantasia. The print featured white fluffy kitten with unicorn horns and angel wings, for some reason the felt the need to have the word 'Necorn' scribbled over the cats on the print. Other than cats the print has a combo of clouds and space stuff. I think the print is okay, I actually like the pink colorway of the print. I have no idea why this print need crosses, I know a lot of people take issue with religious symbols on lolita and its really overdone.

But again construction of the cuts look cheap and just kinda thrown together. They still haven't figured out how to make nice chiffon ribbons.  The overlay looks cheap since it has no nice lining or lace. Sheer overlays are also last years trend, giving a feel of just following what other brands made a year ago. The bottom of the dress lacks any trims which again makes it look cheap. Also the bodice is so basic.

Honestly the only thing that makes these dresses look okay is the great styling of the models. They look really cute but it doesn't hide the flaws of the design. I know I'm hard on Royal Princess Alice but since they take the same prices as Angelic Pretty and Btssb I have some expectations of quality. Not their worst but lots of room for improvement.

Royal Princess Alice: Sweet Monster Castle

mintyfrills kawaii cute lolita fashion pretty theme

New hot mess coming to you in time for Halloween, Having mixed feeling about Royal Princess Alice's new print Sweet Monster Castle. It's too bad when prints get a bit to seasonal, limiting when it feels appropriate to wear it. For example my lavender Candy Treat jsk from Angelic Pretty looks great for Halloween coords but I can wear it for the rest of the year also. I think this would of been better if they just skipped the boarder print and went with the simple style of the rest of the print. They don't seem to go together at all anyways.

The cuts are as always from RPA boring and very meh. The font picked for the print name is so bad I don't even know what to say. Why not just use comic sans while you are at it? And I really understand why people are tired of crosses on everything and this time of the year its just going to get worse.

The front part of the collar is fine but the back part goes way to far down for being that plain. Shorten it or put a design on there! As always there is a lack of trim around the bottom of the skirt part.

These tights don't make sense, why place the boarder print over the top? Why not just go with the cute simple style here too. Who's going to see it? Why did you bother? So many questions...
Get it together Royal Princess Alice, step it up.

Royal Princess Alice: Magic Girl Perfume Pot

mintyfrills kawaii cute sweet lolita fashion pastel magical dress

They have done it again! Royal Princess Alice continues to abuse absolutely fantastic prints by putting them on totally mediocre dress cuts. The new one is called Magic Girl Perfume Pot. I'm just so confused by the easily fixed fails.

First let me just say that the print really is fantastic, both colorways are perfect for it too. The perfume bottles look so magical and sparkly. This could of been such a nice dress which just makes it so much more disappointing when they fall short. So lets go on with picking apart the failings of RPA.

Lets start with the jsk, I mean its not horrible but the shape is just off. the skirt part is a bit too long. its nice with trim in the bottom but the frills they added look a bit out of place with this dress, like its a underskirt added instead of part of the dress. I think a shorter lace would of looked a lot better and some detailing on the skirt to connect them better. I have no idea why they keep trying to add the big sheer ribbons on everything since they cant make them look nice. It should of been layered and the middle part is too think so it just looks wonky. If the bow was actually done right then it could of looked nice with the dress at least.

Then on the OP we are back to no bottom trim at all which just makes it look kinda cheap. The sleeves don't have any details either, I wish there was a bow, cute buttons, some lace or trim? something? The bows in the front just look really sad, please learn how to make cute bows. I don't get the style of ruffle on the bodice and it just looks weird that it continues down the back of the dress.

In conclusion: why do you do this to me? I just want you to succeed because you have such pretty prints. I'm just wishing for better in the future.

Royal Princess Alice: Princess Marine

mintyfrills kawaii harajuku fashion lolita cute pretty mermaidmintyfrills kawaii harajuku fashion lolita cute pretty mermaid

Oh Royal Princess Alice how you come so close to making something nice and then fall short. The print looks cute but the bust on the JSK just makes it scream cheap Jewel Marine rip-off. It tries to do something similar to the shell design on Jewel Marine, it looks okay but not great. I have no idea why they keep putting those huge bows on the front of their dresses all the time, its like the Milky Cross bow but its just not made well enough for it to look good. The color of the bow on the navy version makes it even worse. I still don't like sheer overlays and this one isn't even removable like on the Angelic Pretty dresses. Its too bad that they there is no trim at the bottom at all, no frills, no lace, no details. It's made worse since you see the lining thru the printed fabric, some lace would of fixed it. The OP is just really simple in design, the cut is okay but I just wish there was some more effort.

Don't get me wrong I think these dresses are cute still but they could of been so much better. When you are taking the same prices as Angelic Pretty I expect better quality for my money.

Royal Princess Alice: Rapunzel Dresses

Lolita brand Royal Princess Alice med two different prints in collaboration with watercolor painter Tama. I think the idea of making two different prints with the same theme is pretty cool actually.

This one is called Thorns of Prince and Rapunzel, this one is my favorite of the two. The lanterns look amazing and so does the flowers. I love the tiny stars on the tower with the braid of hair around it. You can see the Rapunzel theme but its still not too much. Sadly the cut of the dress makes no justice to the wonderful painting that Tama made. The detailing on the bodice looks so cheap, the light color looks horrible. the big sheer bow on the OP looks so out of place, its not even the same color as the other detailing. The bottom lace would look so much better if it was lavender instead.

This one is called Shining moon of Rapunzel, the print is different and has a lavender and mint braid all over it. The castle still looks cute and the lanterns here are nice too even though they are not as pretty as one the other print. And the cut is the same so I don't have much more to say about it.

I recommend you check out the artist Tama, her illustrations are really amazing. The picture above is one of hers, she deserves some love.

Royal Princess Alice: Twinkle Snow Carnival

royal princess alice

Royal Princess Alice has a new print called Twinkle Snow Carnival. I think it looks like a boring winter version of Castle Mirage. The characters on the print look so tacked on since they are in a compleatly different style than the rest of the print and I feel like there is something off with them. I think the whole print would of been better without them altogether if they are not going to match the style of the castle. The name of the brand in the print looks so pasted on there that I looked at different pictures to be sure that it was actually on the print and not just on these pictures. The scale if way too big for the cut since it barely fits onto the dress. The part above the boarder is really really boring, they could of just had it be a night sky with snowflakes falling down and it would of looked much better. I wish they would at least have a more interesting cut, this just leaves no room for coording it creatively. I'm not really impressed.

Royal Princess Alice: new print

Lolita bran Royal Princess Alice just announced this new print on their twitter. I don't know to much about this brand but I think this print looks super cute! It looks like an underwater castle, the dreamy pastel colors look really cute. The dress construction looks simple but good! I would totally consider getting this!
